Nan’s Circle
In celebration of Aboriginal Children’s Day, Yamurrah is excited to launch “Nan’s Care Circle,” a supportive initiative designed for Nans, Aunties, and big sisters who serve as carers and guardians of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people. We will facilitate monthly online yarning sessions led by Aboriginal female clinicians, providing a safe and nurturing environment for women who care for children. These gatherings aim to foster connection, reduce feelings of isolation, exchange valuable information, and promote moments of blak joy.
Yamurrah operates without any funding or grants; this initiative is made possible through our RISE pro bono program, which is committed to giving back to the community, supporting programs, groups, events, and assisting trauma survivors and victims of crime. Our collective comprises First Nations professionals and clinicians, including nurses, social workers, psychologists, lawyers, teachers, trauma specialists, academics, and researchers.
